Christy Zarlengo, DIRECTOR

An Early Childhood music educator since 1999, Christy Zarlengo founded Urban Music Together® in 2001, and the Children's Music Center of J.P. in 2006. Christy has taught piano lessons, Suzuki piano and early childhood music classes at ZUMIX, Brookline Music School and the New School in Cambridge, and is currently Coordinator of Classes for Young Children at Brookline Music School. She has an undergraduate degree in Psychology, and is an alumnus of the Berklee College of Music, where she studied voice, piano and songwriting. Additional training includes the summer Dalcroze Institute at the Longy School of Music, and Music Together® Certification from the Center for Music and Young Children in Princeton, NJ. Christy is co-creator and featured teacher in "Little Virtuoso: Music's Everywhere," an interactive music DVD/CD for children birth - 4 years, which you can stream here!

 
 

Brittany Karlson

Bassist/vocalist Brittany Karlson is an adventurous musician and teacher. She has been teaching music in the Boston area for 10+ years, students ages infant to 70 years old, including early childhood classes. Karlson has taught workshops across the USA, Canada, Sweden, and Russia.
Her teaching philosophy is centered in encouraging a playful relationship with sound through improvisation, quality repertoire, and developing solid technical skills.
Karlson holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Berklee College of Music. In addition to music education, Karlson is an AmSAT certified Alexander Technique teacher and currently teaches private lessons in her studio in Jamaica Plain.
