This "pre-piano" class for 4 and 5 year-olds taught by teacher Christy Zarlengo introduces young children to the piano in a classroom setting which is fun and relaxed. 45-minute classes include activities and games which teach about the layout and range of the piano keyboard, as well as rhythmic movement and singing, allowing children to continue their basic music development. Classes include regular opportunities for piano improvisation to explore range, dynamics and expression. Children will learn to play and sing the major scale while being introduced to solfege syllables (doe-re-mi), as well as single-note rhythmic pieces in duet with teacher. Movement activities based upon philosophy and techniques of Dalcroze Eurhythmics. Maximum class size: 6 students.
